About Kate Packman writes contemporary women's, middle grade and young adult fiction. She taught middle grade students for eleven years before she published her debut novel, You Can See the End of the World From Here , in Februrary 2025. This debut novel, set on the Isle of Sheppey, was longlisted for the Bridport Novel Prize 2024. A Passion for Words Kate's passion for words began as a child when she devoured all her own books, the mobile library's and then her mum's. She even tried to write a street newspaper. Her entry into the literary world was delayed when she did the sensible thing and worked as an insurance broker for ten years. After becoming a mother, Kate returned to education and now teaches middle grade pupils. When not planning and marking, she writes from her home in Bedfordshire. During the National Year of Reading 2026, Kate will be the Writer in Residence at Lucky Hare Books in Ampthill. She will be in store every last Saturday of the month. Interviewer Kate Packman chaired Ampthill Literary Festival for seven years and started interviewing authors at literary events in 2022. Her experience as a writer, reader and literary event organiser make her an an ideal host for author events.
